And don't we look savvy checking in at the airport! Thankfully, some airlines still don't charge for baggage. We haven't traveled with this much stuff in years....Books, books, more books and guide books, and some varied clothing. Some places we are going get to the 30s at night, and some places in the 90s-100 during the day.
Yes, that is a ukelele in that case. It's weird for me to have an instrument case but Kenny does not. His clarinet is being brought to California by a friend (it does not like 100 degree weather). Yes, that is my cowboy hat from Albuquerque. I wear it every summer to Jewish Renewal events. Generally my children don't let me wear it in public.
Went to the Boulder Tikkun Leyl Shavuot* for a bit, around 10:30 pm. We thought it would be good to stay up LATE to get used to the time change. None of my Boulder people were there! Perhaps they went to the early or late shifts....I do hope to see them while I'm here.
Dinner at FRASCA tonight. Sam says that my "food issues," which are just kashrut** are simple for Boulder, where people have a variety of far more complicated "food issues." Sam's been doing alot of hulling peas and prepping green beans, pounds and pounds of the stuff. That's why they call you an "intern." Also known as a "scut dog."
* all-night study and discussion session on Shavuot, the holiday which celebrates receiving Torah.
**kashrut=following the Jewish dietary laws of being kosher. Quick description: The meat and poultry that I eat has to be slaughtered and prepared in a specified way, you can not eat pork or shellfish, you can not eat dairy products at the same time as those specially-slaughtered meat or poultry products. When I eat in a restaurant it is easiest to say that I am a vegetarian who eats fish (with fins and scales).
